release. Scale of subsistence allowance to prisoners. Rule134. The following scale of diet money is laid down for prisoners possession not- more than two rupees on release:(i) (ii) Journey by road (a) No allowance when the distance to be traveled is 8 Km-050 M or less. (b) If the distance exceeds 8 Km-050,M one rupee for every 24 km-140 M or part three. Journey by rail or lorry: (a) No allowance when the journey to be traveled is 80 Km.—470 M. or less. (b) When the journey exceeds 80 Km-470 M. one rupee for every day's or part of the day's journey. (iii) Every released prisoner, who is certified by the Medical Officer to be unfit to travel on foot, shall be given a suitable conveyance allowance for such portion of the journey, to his home, as he will have to travel by road. (iv) All women prisoners on release shall be provided with conveyance allowance where the distance to be traveled by them exceeds 1 Km-610 M. Conveyance may also be provided for short distances in cases in which for reasons of health or custom or other valid reason, failure to make such provision would cause undue hardship to women prisoners. (v) All allowances granted under these rules to any prisoner on his release shall be paid to him in the presence of the Deputy Superintendent or the Superintendent. .
