(q) stoppages of pay and allowances to make good the whole or any part of the proved loss or
damage occasioned by the offence of which he is convicted;
(r) any other punishment provided for in any Islamic law:
Provided that:___
(a) a person shall not be sentenced to imprisonment for life or fine except in respect of an
offence of which he is convicted under section 71; and
(b) a person shall not be sentenced to stoning to death, amputation of hand, foot or both or
whipping except in respect of an offence of which he is convicted under any Islamic law.
Explanation.___While computing a sentence under an Islamic law, “imprisonment for life” shall
have the same meaning as in such law.]
74. Alternate punishments awardable by courts‑martial. Subject to the provisions of this Act,
a court‑martial, may, on convicting a person subject to this Act of any of the offences specified in
sections 34 to 70 inclusive, award either the particular punishment with which the offence is stated in
the said sections to be punishable, or, in lieu thereof, any one of the punishments lower in the scale
set out in section 73, regard being had to the nature and degree of the offence.
75. Combination of punishments. A sentence of a court‑martial may award, in addition to or
without any one other punishment, the punishment specified in 1[clause (h)] of section 73 and any
one or more of the punishments specified in 2[clauses (j) to (s)] of that section.
