Rule33.The Superintendent shall be responsible for seeing that necessary alterations are made in the registers and documents noted in the preceding Rule when a convict's sentence is enhanced or reduced on appeal. The Superintendent shall similarly be responsible for seeing that necessary alterations are made on the realization of fine. The Superintendent and the Deputy Superintendent shall initial these alterations. Rules for calculation of date of release. Rule34. -In calculating the date of release, the following rules shall be observed: (a) The date on which the sentence was passed and the day of release shall count as days of imprisonment. (b) The term "month" or "year" means a calendar month or a year. (c) When a sentence includes a fraction of a month, the month shall be reckoned to consist of thirty days. (d) If a sentence of death is commuted to one of imprisonment, the sentence of imprisonment shall be deemed to commence from the date on which the sentence of death was passed. (e) If in case of a prisoner two or more sentences are to be undergone otherwise than concurrently, no day shall be counted as a day of imprisonment in respect of more than one such sentence. (f) A sentence of imprisonment for one day shall be deemed to expire on the same day on "which the sentence was passed. Example 1. A prisoner sentenced to one year's imprisonment on 15th January, 2003 shall be released on the 14th January, 2004. Example 2. A prisoner sentenced on the 1st January to one month's imprisonment shall be released on the 31st of the same month. Example 3. A, B and C are sentenced respectively to one month's imprisonment on the 29th, 30th and 31st January, 2003. All 13
